At the PPFOA, our mission includes spreading devotion to Padre Pio by sharing his teachings and spirituality. We also remain dedicated to preserving and maintaining Padre Pio’s hometown of Pietrelcina, his friary in San Giovanni Rotondo, and his hospital, La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza (The Home for the Relief of Suffering) as sacred places of remembrance that held a special place in his heart.
And we participate in promoting Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy by continuing Padre Pio’s legacy of helping those who suffer and those in need.
The Padre Pio Foundation of America (PPFOA) was established in 1977 to promote devotion to Padre Pio and continue his legacy of love and caring for those less fortunate.

Most important we have had passed on to us, directly from Padre Pio, the urgent need to let people know that he will accept “all of America” (his words) as his Spiritual Children. Through his intercessions, people have experienced physical healing, renewed faith, conversion and many other spiritual and temporal blessings.

Father David Beaumont is a Capuchin missionary priest, who is walking in the footsteps of Padre Pio. Just like our favorite Saint, he felt a religious calling at a young age. He was an altar boy at 10 years old, entered the novitiate at 15 and was ordained into the Capuchin Order at 18.
As he prepared for priesthood at Our Lady of Angels Province in California, he was deeply touched by the plight of refugees from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and migrant workers from Mexico.
We are proud to support the Cromwell Police Department in funding their new K9 unit, recognizing the important role these trained dogs play in enhancing public safety and community relations. This initiative reflects our commitment to promoting peace and well-being in the community, in alignment with Padre Pio's dedication to compassion and service. By contributing to this essential resource, we are helping equip the department with a highly skilled canine that will assist in various critical duties, from search and rescue to community outreach.
Hundreds of homeless get to enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals. Your gift of a warm meal may be feeding their hunger, but it is so much more. You are saying, “I care” and you bring hope to those who don’t always feel cared for or hopeful.
Because of YOU, hundreds of homeless enjoy healthy, home-cooked meals that also nourish their souls.
Padre Pio’s Hospital:
La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza
La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the Home for the Relief of Suffering, is Padre Pio’s life work, opened on May 5, 1956, with thousands in attendance, including Padre Pio prayer groups from around the world as he celebrated Mass on the hospital’s steps. His dream of creating a hospital city has come true, with the facility now regarded as one of the best hospitals in Italy. The PPFOA supports the hospital through various projects, including the purchase of essential medical equipment and funding programs for children.

Your generous gift keeps Padre Pio’s legacy alive by aiding people in need.
Padre Pio was born in the small Italian village of Pietrelcina, Italy in 1887. He was a humble Capuchin priest who became known around the world for his deep faith, powerful prayers, and the many miracles connected to him. He bore the stigmata, the five wounds of Christ Crucified, and for 50 years people from all walks of life came to him for guidance, healing, and hope.
Among his most important works was the hospital he built and called La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza (The Home for the Relief of Suffering) which now stands proudly as an impressive 800+ bed hospital and research center next to his friary.
He died in 1968 and was canonized Saint Pio of Pietrelcina in 2002 but is still affectionately called Padre Pio.
He had an extraordinary gift for understanding the struggles of the human heart and always pointed people back to God’s mercy. Even now, through his intercession, people continue to experience physical and spiritual healing.
